This partnership is part of several strategies implemented by Supalai to engage stakeholders in activities aimed at improving the environment in the long term through shared missions in line with the company’s sustainability goals.
Mr. Traitecha Tangmatitham, Managing Director of Supalai Public Company Limited, explained further: “The real estate industry has a significant impact on the environment. As part of our commitments toward sustainability, we aim to achieve a 40% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. This is a key component of our environmental goals and will be achieved through a comprehensive plan that promotes the use of clean energy for residential purposes. We strive to make a significant impact at a macro level and support our Supalai residents to live in truly energy-efficient homes. To achieve this, we will install solar cells in 15,000 homes within 2028, helping us move closer towards our goal of a sustainable future. We are currently in the process of developing a project that aims to install clean-energy infrastructure across more than 29 provinces, covering over 30% of the country. This initiative is expected to generate a total electricity production capacity of 82,300 megawatts and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 49,300 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent, which is comparable to planting 3.2 million trees. Additionally, Supalai residents can save up to 20,000-30,000 baht per year on electricity bills. Looking towards the future, our company also plans to develop an application called SABAI that will allow for improved tracking and control of electricity production.”
Mr. Kittipong Sirilakatrakul, Deputy Managing Director of Supalai Public Company Limited shared that: “As a company, we understand the current trend of environmentally conscious consumers who are seeking sustainable and eco-friendly living options. In response to this demand, we have developed innovative construction and design solutions, as well as collaborated with our partners to enhance the quality of our products. Our goal is to provide all types of Supalai residences as 'homes that preserve the planet,' aligning with the lifestyles of the younger generation through five main customer-centric pillars. We are proud to be at the forefront of this movement and look forward to continuing to lead the way in sustainable living.”
The five main customer-centric pillars include:
1. Innovation for Environmental Management: Supalai has launched the "Supalai Self-Proved" campaign, inviting customers to verify the results of the company’s environmentally friendly construction innovations through a ‘Supalai Waste Meter’. This measures the amount of waste generated during construction, ensuring it stays below standard thresholds. Supalai’s innovative designs include using eco-friendly building materials, reducing leftover waste, and minimizing air pollution. To develop these innovations, Supalai has collaborated with industry partners such as SCG, TOA, DOS, and CPAC to produce materials that meet customers' needs. These products are also available for sale to the general public.
2. Supalai's Energy-Efficient Homes: In line with Supalai’s vision of ‘Innovative Design for Sustainable Living’, its homes are designed with a north-south orientation to minimize sun exposure and maximize natural ventilation. The company also incorporates multiple openings for doors and windows to ensure optimal airflow and uses materials that help regulate temperature. These efforts have earned Supalai recognition for its energy-efficient designs and use of appliances and air conditioning units with the Energy Star label.
3. Universal Design Solutions for All Ages and Abilities: Supalai prioritizes the comfort and safety of all residents, regardless of age or ability. Its commitment to universal design is evident in its functional home designs that cater to all needs. Supalai takes special care to incorporate features that meet the needs of seniors and individuals with disabilities, such as ground-floor bedrooms with non-slip flooring materials and sliding doors without thresholds. The company also ensures that all homes are equipped with features that facilitate wheelchair accessibility, such as reduced height differences and easy-to-use door handles.
4. Clean Energy Revolution: Supalai has installed solar panels and EV chargers in over 15,000 homes nationwide and is committed to reducing its carbon footprint by 40% by 2030. The company’s flagship building, the Supalai Grand Tower, has a 450kW solar panel system that generates 330,397 kWh of electricity annually, reducing carbon emissions by 198 tons and saving over 1.5 million baht in electricity costs per year. Supalai has also installed solar panels in its sales offices and central facilities, reducing common area fees for residents.
5. Reducing Carbon Emissions: In addition to building sustainable residential projects that meet the needs of customers, Supalai is committed to supporting national policies aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Supalai prioritizes sustainability in all aspects of its organization, including planting trees to absorb carbon dioxide, transitioning from chemical fertilizers to organic alternatives, and sharing clothing and other items with staff and construction workers. The company also supports green loans to encourage sustainable living among its customers.
To pave the way forward for the real estate industry, Supalai partnered with Huawei Technologies (Thailand) and ION Energy Corporation Limited to promote environmental responsibility and sustainable living. Through this partnership, Supalai aims to become the top provider of "Solar Homes" in the country. In the first phase of the project, 1,500 homes will be equipped with solar panels, offering customers cost-effective electricity and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The partnership will also provide maintenance and support services to ensure optimal performance and educate customers on the benefits of using clean energy in their homes. This initiative offers an accessible and easy way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and inspire sustainable living for all.
Mr. Logan Yu, President of Huawei Thailand Digital Power Business said: “We are committed to driving the use of clean energy for a sustainable future. As a leading technology company in clean energy, Huawei aims to promote the adoption of solar energy solutions for both businesses and households in Thailand through our partnership with key players in the industry. Huawei will provide academic and technological support to Supalai's residential and commercial projects for the installation of solar panels, energy storage systems, and digital power management solutions through ‘Smart Design 2.0’ program. Our collaboration with ION Energy Corporation Limited will also help raise awareness and promote solar energy solutions in Thailand."
Huawei, Supalai, and ION Energy share a common vision of prioritizing environmental sustainability and long-term energy management to support global trends for the future. Through this partnership, the companies aim to collaborate on researching and developing clean energy innovations while reducing energy waste and replacing it with clean energy solutions across Supalai’s various real estate projects. This will serve as a model for sustainable energy management, leading to the continuous development and improvement of real estate projects in Thailand. ION Energy will be responsible for installing solar power systems in various projects, providing a reliable source of electricity from solar energy.
As a global leader in digital power technology, Huawei has implemented its energy solutions in over 170 countries worldwide, emphasizing the importance of solar power generation, energy storage, application, and safe solar power conversion equipment. By promoting the installation of solar panels for both businesses and households, Huawei aims to increase the use of renewable energy sources in Thailand, leading to a significant reduction in carbon emissions in accordance with the country's carbon neutrality goals. This aligns with Huawei's mission to ‘Grow in Thailand, contribute to Thailand’ and will unleash the power of digital for a better future.
Pongsapak Nakornsri, Chairman of ION Energy Corporation Limited or ION, a leading provider of end-to-end clean energy solutions covering design, procurement, installation, and after-sales services for residential, real estate, and medium-d businesses, commented: “ION recognizes the global trend towards renewable energy sources, particularly solar power. To achieve Net Zero and build a sustainable future, the trend of installing solar roofs is increasing, especially for residential customers, due in part to rising electricity costs caused by fluctuations in production and purchasing costs that result in higher electricity bills. Moreover, this behavior contributes to increased greenhouse gas emissions, which further raise global temperatures. Choosing to use electricity from clean energy sources is crucial for everyone to work together to benefit all sectors of society and the environment.”
ION understands the importance of promoting solar power usage in real estate projects and partnered with Supalai for this purpose. This collaboration gained the trust of Huawei who collaborated with both companies in designing and installing solar roofs for Supalai's residential projects. The installation is equipped with Tier 1 solar panels, Huawei Inverters, and high-quality electrical cables from Bangkok Cable Company, ensuring that the solar power system meets Supalai's standards for quality and efficiency. This partnership aims to elevate the installation of solar power systems to meet the highest standards in Supalai's residential projects.
